MAPLE SENIOR RESIDENCES

Renovation of existing building to residential apartments

The Maple Senior Residences are comprised of the restoration and adaptive reuse of two historic buildings in downtown Hiawatha, Kansas. The buildings originally known as the A & P Grocery Building and the adjacent small Café building have been converted into ten new senior apartments.

The renovation and restoration of the grocery store included adding a second floor within the original building envelop. This additional space allowed for the construction of nine new apartments, tenant community spaces, and a manager’s office. A new elevator provides easier accessibility for the residents.

The Café building has been renovated into a single apartment with its own separate entry. Onsite parking has been provided and a small tenant outdoor seating area complete with grill.

The renovation of these two buildings breathes new life in the heart of Hiawatha’s downtown and will help to solidify the ongoing redevelopment of the entire area.
