Saline County Courthouse
101 East Arrow Street
Marshall, Missouri
Historic renovation
Constructed from 1882-83 the Saline County Courthouse is located in Marshall, Missouri. Designed by J.C. Cochran a Chicago, Illinois architect, the courthouse is an example of a cruciform plan built in a classical style. The roof is a cross gable plan with a clock tower located at the intersection of the gable roofs.
To correct many years of exterior
deterioration and alterations SWD
Architects developed a restoration
and renovation plan for the historic
courthouse. The exterior historic
renovation includes the cleaning and
repair of the brick and sandstone
facades. This work includes the
repair of settlement cracking, and
deterioration of the sandstone. The
sandstone repair is accomplished
through a combination of patching
and stone replacement. Also
included in the exterior renovation are
a new slate roof, reconstruction of the
built-in gutter system and restoration
of the decorative metal cornices and
details.
The interior renovation and
restoration includes repair of the roof
framing, plaster wall, trim and ceiling
repairs, replacement of fan coil units,
installation of a new fire alarm
system, upgraded lighting and
restroom remodeling.
