Schultz Senior Apartments
101 South Pacific
Cape Girardeau, Missouri
Historic renovation and adaptive reuse to residential apartments
Originally constructed in 1915 as the first high school for the Cape Girardeau public school system. A separate building was constructed as the Vocational Arts building adjacent to the high school in 1920. In 1965, the buildings were connected, renovated and renamed for Louis J. Schultz. Schultz Senior Apartments will now house 45 energy efficient apartments and community spaces along with a community flower garden for senior residents.
The building features multiple interior design schemes to please various tastes. Washer and dryers are provided in each unit. Heat pump mechanical systems and proposed roof top solar arrays will create an energy efficient building. Amenity areas are located on each of the four floors. Community spaces include a community kitchen, fitness area, crafting room and a kid’s play area.
SWD provided schematic design, construction drawings and administration, site planning and marketing materials.
